Sharpness is not a problem here. The picture is actually very sharp. The blur is a result of the DOF, as it is almost impossible to get the whole bug into the field with a macro lens when the wings are open. The focus is on the eyes, where it should be.

You could possibly close the aperture a little more, tho I am not sure it would have made a big difference.

Very good for a first attempt, just too tight. If not a FF, I'd crop with a little more space around it.

mmm, nice shot still think the wings looks out of focus. As i said about Quii image, its hard to get macro bug shots bang on. Good attempt.

I used f/8 but I also used a magnifying glass which makes DOF very shallow.
